The Sylt Lounge & Madsack See Salon is the go-to place for delicious fish and meat dishes, tapas, oysters or fish & chips. On the eastern lakefront (Rudolf-von-Benningsen shore), the Caribbean Village oozes Cuban flair. Caribbean chicken curry, juicy meat kebabs with a variety of chutneys are among the tasty delights on offer here. With a rustic maritime atmosphere, the ‘Hamborger Veermaster’ serves traditional Northern German fish dishes such as lobscouse (sailors’ stew) and rolled pickled herring, or Hamburg potato soup with small North Sea shrimps. With delicacies from Neptune’s domain at Gosch-Sylt close to the Geibeltreff visitors can enjoy a real holiday sensation. Try spicy Thai noodles, crispy fish burgers or the very traditional potatoes and salmon. In 2016, there will again be an opportunity to revisit the legendary neighbourhood pub ‘Ümme Ecke’.
If you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the Maschsee Lake Festival, the adjacent Clichy is the place to go. The menu newly features spicy lamb curry and fingerlings from Alsace, but the bouillabaisse and salmon tartare are mouth-watering too. Pier 51 is once again offering its delicious burgers in the Piergarten. At the legendary NDR 1 stage close to the Lion Bastion, there are no less than four food concepts awaiting hungry visitors in 2016: the Rocky Lobster focuses on fresh seafood, such as grilled fish, fresh salads and prawn kebabs; the Thai Kitchen serves fried Thai noodles and exotic curries; the Bavaria Royal features Bavarian culinary classics such as pork roast with crackling, white veal sausages and pretzels; and the New York Flat Bread is famous for its stuffed pita breads filled with falafel, pulled pork and pulled beef. Long drinks, cocktails and fizzy summer drinks are served at the Buddha del Sol bar. A tip for all beer fans: from 5 to 7 August, during the 2nd Brewery Festival, the Hannover breweries Gilde, Herrenhäuser, Brauhaus Ernst August and Meiers Lebenslust present their eminently drinkable produce.
The next shore leave is not far away: On the sun deck between Pier 51 and the Lion bastion you can make a brief excursion into the German capital without leaving the Maschsee Lake Festival. Here, a comfortable lounge invites you to linger. Furthermore, you can enjoy the tasty and original berliner Currywurst and test virtual reality glasses with which you have an amazing 360-degree view over Berlin.
