It is a pioneer in transplantation medicine and is considered one of the leading centres in the field worldwide. With 19 veterinary medicine institutes, six clinics and numerous centres, the University of Veterinary Medicine Foundation is internationally renowned. Hannover’s research centres are world leaders. Be it geothermal energy, precision forging or biomedicine, more than 250 scientists work with partners from industry at the Hannover Centre for Production Technology (PZH) to pioneer innovative processes and technologies Made in Germany. Laser Zentrum Hannover is one of the most important European institutes in its field, attracting businesses in research and development and driving industry-oriented training.
All told, Hannover’s science and research sector employs around 8,800 people. In addition to medicine, the sector is also characterised by the strong collaboration between scientists and researchers.
