Locations where events, conferences and conventions can be held in compliance with the new social distancing and hygiene measures will be highlighted with a label in the HannoverKongress online search. The Hanover label with the blue "thumbs up" icon stands for hygiene measures such as keeping the minimum distance between conference participants throughout the event, modified room layouts and procedures, individual advice and increased cleaning cycles.
"COVID-19 has fundamentally changed the entire tourism industry, especially business travel and tourism. As an international trade fair city where visitors stay for an average period of 1.9 days, service providers have many years of experience with the already very high hygiene standards in Germany. It is not without reason that we are currently perceived as a "trusted destination", especially by our neighbouring countries such as Belgium or the Netherlands. We want to communicate this clearly and simply with the new label," says Hans Nolte, Managing Director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG).
With its convenient location, excellent infrastructure and a wide range of leisure activities, the Hanover region plays a leading role in the conference and event industry, offering a wide variety of prime and unusual locations. Whether the world's largest trade fair grounds, Herrenhausen Palace, which also received the "Location Award", Hanover Adventure Zoo, the Hannover Congress Centrum or historical locations – the cosmopolitan city along the Leine river boasts a wide range of appealing event venues. It is this mix that makes Hanover a particularly great place for conferences and conventions of any kind. Thanks to nearby Hanover Airport, the A2 and A7 highways and the modern high-speed train network, Hanover is quickly and easily accessible.
