75th anniversary

75th anniversary

On April 10, the council decides to hold the trade fair and to make a municipal contribution to Messe AG in the amount of 1 million Reichsmarks. On April 15, the commander-in-chief in the British occupation zone announces that, as a counterpart to the Leipzig Fair, the Hanover Fair will be held from August 18 to September 7. On the same day, the city establishes a Fair Office to assist in procuring accommodation for exhibitors and visitors. In time for the start of the fair, the "Alu-Palast" is completed on August 18, right next to the Theater am Aegi, where the revue "Liebesexpress" with Willy Fritsch is shown as a premiere performance.

Innovations for the whole world

Deutsche Messe AG

392,453 square meters of covered indoor space, 58,000 square meters of open-air space, 24 halls and pavilions: that will give you an idea of just how big the home base of Deutsche Messe is - it's the biggest Exhibition Center in the world. Apart from the distinct architecture of the Exhibition Center's halls, it boasts a number of other features, including the Convention Center with its 35 function rooms, glassed-in areas between halls, grassy park-like areas and "chill-out" zones, to guarantee a relaxed yet productive atmosphere. The Hannover Exhibition Center sets worldwide standards in terms of its technical facilities, exhibition hall architecture and planning security for events of all shapes and sizes.

Excellent Infrastructure

The exhibition grounds can be reached by car, as well as by two mass transit rail lines (terminating at the northern and eastern perimeters of the grounds) and the showground's own railway station, "Hannover Messe/Laatzen", which is located on Germany's heavily traveled North/South rail axis, connecting Hannover with Frankfurt and Hamburg.

Two pedestrian "skywalks" (i.e. covered, moving walkways) connect the railway station on the western side of the exhibition grounds with the entrance of Hall 13, and, on the eastern side, the parking lots with halls 8 and 9. A new tram line provides a fast and convenient connection between Hannover Airport, Hannover Central Railway Station and the exhibition site. Vehicular access roads to the exhibition site were designed to handle peak traffic volumes. Highways up to six lanes wide lead straight to the showground.

Tip:

During the leading industry fairs a lot of long distance trains of the "DB" as well as local trains of the "Metronom" and "Erixx" stop at the train station Hannover Messe/Laatzen.
