It lies on the west bank of the Ihme river, opposite the Calenberger Neustadt area. It is bordered by Spinnereistraße and Am Küchengarten square to the north and Blumenauer Straße to the west. Its south side faces the square Schwarzer Bär and event venue Capitol.
