States of Matter

The exhibition invites visitors to discover the diversity of art marterials in the collection of the Sprengel Museum Hannover.

In six rooms showing a total of 60 works, the broad spectrum of art materials from modernism to the present unfolds: from alabaster, bronze and marble to fat, sulphur, sausage and cement. The show brings together major items from the collection, including works by Joeph Beuys, Dieter Roth, Niki de Saint Phalle and Daniel Spoeri, along with works by Alice Musiol and Berenice Güttler that have never been shown before.
