Typical of Hannover!?

A so-called workshop exhibition on the special features of Hannover, lasting a whole year until 6 August 2017, seeks to get visitors to participate actively and to discover things they did not know about the city.

The show with its focus on Hannover’s identity coincides nicely with the State Capital’s 775th anniversary celebrations: What is it that makes Hannover what it is? The Nanas, Lüttje Lage, Bahlsen, the Trade Fairs, the Marksmen’s Fair?

Starting in the entrance area with numerous photos of well-known buildings or iconic spots, the pictures mostly having been contributed by visitors to the Museum of History, it then goes on to historic exhibits, many with cult status, such as the Leibniz biscuit tin, a “Made in Hannover” VW Camper in Hannover 96 livery, a Hanomag “Kommissbrot” car or an old 19th-century sporting rifle. And the best thing is that the visitors themselves are called upon to say what factors they personally see as defining Hannover’s profile – by throwing chips into ballot boxes in the different thematic areas, sticking notes with comments on the walls or taking part in discussion forums on the social media or at Their views can trigger modifications to the exhibition.
