International Travel Trade Show in Berlin

Hannover gives a highly personal presentation at the world’s leading travel trade show

Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH will make the most of the world’s leading travel trade show, the ITB in Berlin, to inform visitors about the city’s best-kept secrets, give them a glimpse behind the scenes and present the urbanity, events and nature experiences on offer in Hannover Region.

Hannover unverwechselbar

Inside Hannover: a beach club with a magnificent panorama over the rooftops of the Old Town, market squares with casual cafés, bars and legendary clubs, the Nana sculptures in the city centre, the polar bear in Yukon Bay at Hannover Adventure Zoo – these and many other fantastic, colourful photos and posters are designed to invite young tourists in particular to pay a visit to the holiday region of Hannover.

In the bustling centre of the state capital of Lower Saxony, people have always arranged to meet at the historic Kröpcke clock or “under the horse’s tail”, i.e. at the equestrian statue in front of the central railway station, as this is the perfect starting point for a shopping spree. And this is also where the new pocket guide “Hannover – like nowhere else” begins: it divulges some of the region’s best kept secrets and features cultural highlights, shopping, culinary tours of the city and leisure amenities, such as mountain biking or climbing. The focus is on the hip districts of Hannover: in the pulsating, turbulent district of Linden, the streets are teeming with people who regard life as an art form. The large numbers of students who live in Nordstadt, right behind the university, guarantee a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, whilst List, with its attractive old buildings, is home to chic boutiques and wine bars. And finally, Südstadt scores high with visitors thanks to Maschsee Lake and its beautiful market squares.

Herrenhausen Gardens

“Spend the morning in Herrenhausen Gardens, take a lunchtime snack at a  coffee roasting house in Hannover’s Nordstadt district, soak up the sun on the banks of the River Ihme and then settle down at one of the street kitchens in Limmerstrasse for a spot of people watching. Next day, attend the opening of a new exhibition at the Kestner Society before heading for the shops – these are the hot spots for young people visiting the city. Authentic, unpretentious, relaxing: the holiday region has a lot to offer, from fun on the beach or the high ropes to a kiting weekend at Lake Steinhude,” says Hans Christian Nolte, Managing Director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) as he announces the strategy for tourism year 2016.

www.visit-hannover.com/en/bloggers meanwhile includes numerous articles by national and international travel bloggers who have visited Hannover and posted their very personal discoveries and impressions.

300,000 copies of the new pocket guide “Hannover – like nowhere else” have been printed in German and English. The guides are available wherever the young target group is likely to be found: in bars and cafés, cinemas and gyms, hostels and hotels.

Around 30,000 copies of the larger version of our image brochure, “Hannover – like nowhere else”, which was produced specifically for the ITB, will be distributed on ICE trains heading for Berlin when the travel show opens for trade visitors on 9 March. Packed with colourful new impressions, the brochure presents highlights and places of interest in Hannover Region, forthcoming events and a range of attractive themed packages for a visit to Hannover.

The special “magic” booklet published by “9 cities in Lower Saxony” will be inserted in the middle of the brochure. This is where the member cities announce events and festival highlights such as the Lunatic Festival in Lüneburg, the Old Town Festival in Wolfenbüttel, the Honky Tonk pub festival in Goslar and the Movimentos Festival Weeks at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. To back these activities, 1 million ICE timetables for March will feature photos of Hannover Adventure Zoo, the Nanas and Maschsee Lake Festival, as well as impressions of shopping in Hannover.

In Berlin, large billboards at the central railway station and the train stations at the exhibition grounds, TV spots on board Berlin’s underground trains and ground posters along the routes to the exhibition centre whet people’s appetite for a visit to Hannover. Promotion teams in front of the entrances to the ITB will distribute the matching pocket guide “Hannover – like nowhere else”.
