Eilenriede city forest and Maschsee Lake are wonderful recreational areas, yet it only takes five minutes to reach the city centre via Marienstrasse or Hildesheimer Strasse. It is rumoured that single people in particular prefer this part of the city, perhaps because jogging round Maschsee Lake provides such marvellous opportunities for flirting… More and more students have settled in Südstadt in recent times, even though it is a comparatively quiet part of the city.

And what else is there to say about it? Eisfabrik (“Ice Factory”) offers drama, art and culture, and Hannover’s biggest farmers’ market takes place on Stephansplatz every Friday.
