A resounding success for Hannover Airport and a wonderful opportunity for the whole city: the airport has been chosen to host “Routes Europe 2019”, bringing the largest European network event for the aviation industry to Germany for the first time.

Hannover at World Routes in Barcelona

Hannover is currently showcased in a lounge at the World Routes in Barcelona: a youthful, stylish city shown at top speed. The presentation is backed by Hannover’s DJ Wolf (Wolf Kolster) and master cocktail mixer Thomas Immenroth, who create a relaxing atmosphere as they introduce Hannover as the trendy venue for the Routes Europe 2019 event.

For three days in 2019, the capital city of Lower Saxony will host this key event for the decision-makers of this business sector: airlines, airport operators and tourism companies. The “Routes Europe” is the major continental event of its kind and is held in a different European city every year. More than 100 airlines, 450 airports and 800 other business enterprises from the aviation sector are expected to attend the “Routes Europe 2019”, which will take place at Hannover Congress Centre. The programme will include presentations, exhibitions and business appointments in the form of “speed dating”.

Hannover - a great location in the centre of Europe

Why Hannover? That’s why!

Hannover stands for high-class entertainment, flair and events. The state capital of Lower Saxony has it all: culture from world-class spectaculars to friendly community arts; top-class sporting events to sports facilities for all; elegant city centre shops, charming arcades and colourful markets; excellent hotels and restaurants and a central position in the heart of Europe with ideal infrastructure connections. Hannover is a lively town - a good place to live for over 550,000 people, and a great place to visit for millions of tourists and day trippers every year.

Excellent infrastructure in the heart of Europe

With its excellent modern infrastructure – first the international airport, urban motorways, national highway links and the central railway station as an important high-speed rail intersection from every point of the compass – the state capital is a transport hub at the centre of Europe.

Hannover Airport – Where global players feel at home

Hannover Airport serves one of the widest and most powerful areas in Germany. Its Interkont parallel runway system for 60 flight movements per hour provides 24-hour operations and an unrestricted infrastructure, giving airlines easier access to this enormous market than from any other airport. In that way, the airport makes a huge contribution to the city and the entire region of Northern Germany.

Its well-connected location with its own highway exit makes the airport a perfect, quickly accessible landing point from all areas of the sky. Of course, the airport is also easily reachable by public transit. The local commuter trains bring travelers from the Hannover main station right to the terminal in only 18 minutes. That means the airport is ideally situated for connections to the long-distance rail service of the Deutsche Bahn.

Thanks to its numerous direct flights within Europe and the high frequency of connections to all the important European hubs, passengers benefit from comfortable connections to locations all over the world. Short routes across the campus and in the terminals along with the airport's comprehensive service package create the best conditions for a relaxed takeoff. Not surprisingly, Hannover Airport is the first choice for millions of business travelers and tourists in Northern Germany.

First class hospitality – world-leading trade fair city

As the location for leading trade fairs and conferences and host to the World Exposition EXPO 2000 Hannover has a tremendous reputation for cosmopolitan hospitality – for more than 70 years. Hannover is in first place when it comes to the world’s leading trade fairs, playing host to events such as DOMOTEX, CeBIT, HANNOVER MESSE and IAA Nutzfahrzeuge. Hannover’s hospitality at fairs and festivals as well as sport and music events is valued worldwide and continues to be proven time and again.

Hannover – lovable and lively

Hannover is a city of green spaces. Every year around half a million tourists visit the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen and enjoy the flair of this baroque garden, which can rightly claim to be one of the best preserved in the whole of Europe. Get away from the city bustle in five minutes - the vast Eilenriede city forest, the shores of the Maschsee Lake, the countryside along the River Leine and the parks are all inviting places for a stroll or sports activities. Hannover hosts one of Germany’s most spectacular animal parks, Adventure Zoo Hannover, with its great theme worlds and more than 2000 animals.

The pedestrian precinct is a shopper’s paradise, and in the Old Town you can stroll around the narrow medieval streets, relax on the banks of the River Leine or in one of the numerous cafés. Event highlights such as the International Fireworks Competition, Lake Maschsee Festival, the world’s largest Marksmen’s Fair and the Christmas markets lure crowds of people to Hannover every year. The city’s programme of cultural events is more diverse and more exciting than ever, offering a comprehensive spectrum of everything from fascinating exhibitions, light entertainment to stage productions of the highest calibre in the many different theatres and museums.
