General description of the service
The websites linked at www.visit-hannover.com—www.hannover-living.de, http://www.hannover-tourismus.de, and the online shops at welcome.visit-hannover.com—constitute HMTG’s central online tourism offering for the Hannover region. Through these websites, consumers can, in particular:
- Order merchandise (souvenirs) from the online souvenir shop (contractual partner: HMTG),
- Book package tours online (HMTG as the tour operator);
- Book individual and group tours online (HMTG as the provider) as well as
- Request and book accommodations in Hannover and the surrounding region through the Accommodation Service operated by HMTG (HMTG acts as an intermediary for contracts with lodging providers)
In addition, extensive information is provided on attractions, events, and tourist activities in the Region Hannover.
Explanations regarding the performance of the service
The key steps for using the accessible online services are:
Selecting an offer
Users select the desired category using the navigation bar or search function (e.g., “Hotels, Vacation Rentals, B&Bs, & Activity Packages,” “Tickets & Tours,” “Culture & Attractions,” “Online Shops in Hannover”). The available products and services are displayed there along with descriptions, prices, and other terms and conditions.
Detailed view and listing information
On the detailed pages, users can find additional information (e.g., scope of services, travel dates, meeting points for guided tours, room categories). This information is necessary for concluding the contract and planning the trip.
Ordering or booking process
In the online souvenir shop, items can be added to a shopping cart by selecting the desired products and clicking the corresponding buttons; the subsequent checkout process is used to enter address and payment information and to submit a binding order.
For package tours and guided tours, customers select travel dates or times and enter their personal information; by confirming the booking process, customers submit a binding offer to enter into a travel or service contract.
The Accommodation Service uses the information provided by the customer to identify suitable lodging options; HMTG then facilitates the signing of the lodging agreement with the respective host.
Conclusion of the Contract and Confirmation
The contract is concluded in accordance with the applicable Terms and Conditions; customers will receive a confirmation of the contract and further information regarding services, payment, and, if applicable, cancellation policies.
Customer service
If customers have any questions, they can contact HMTG using the contact information provided in the legal notice and the Terms and Conditions.
Compliance with accessibility requirements
The legal requirements are set forth in the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG), specifically in Section 14 of the BFSG, as well as in individual provisions of the Accessibility Enhancement Act Regulation (BFSGV). The website has been designed to be accessible in accordance with the requirements of Sections 12 and 19 of the BFSGV in conjunction with Section 3(2) of the BFSG.
Section 4 of the BFSG establishes a presumption that services which comply with harmonized standards—the references to which have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union—meet the requirements of the BFSGV to the extent that those requirements are covered by the relevant harmonized standards. This is the case with regard to the harmonized European standard EN 301 549, which sets out requirements for the accessibility of websites in its ninth chapter and stipulates that websites are designed to be accessible within the meaning of EN 301 549 if they meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Conformity Level AA. We go beyond the legal requirements for ensuring accessibility and have decided to implement WCAG Version 2.2 at Conformity Level AA.
For these reasons, this website has been designed to be accessible in accordance with Sections 14(1)(1) and (4) of the Federal Statistics Act (BFSG) in conjunction with Section 12 of the Federal Statistics Ordinance (BFSGV), applying Chapter 9 of the harmonized European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.2 at Conformity Level AA.
The most important measures include, among others:
Perceptibility of the content
Text, controls, and forms are designed with sufficient color contrast and easily readable fonts; essential information is provided in text form and is accessible to screen readers. Non-textual content that is relevant to understanding the content or concluding a contract is provided with alternative text.
Ease of use of the features
The pages and online forms (including booking and payment processes) can be fully navigated using only the keyboard. Focus indicators are visible, and consistent navigation patterns are used.
comprehensibility
Product and service descriptions, prices, and key contract terms (e.g., regarding cancellation and payment) are written in clear, easy-to-understand language. Error messages in forms are clear and specific, so that input errors can be easily corrected.
Robust technical implementation
The website is designed and maintained to ensure that it works reliably with common browsers and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, Braille displays).
Accessible Transaction Processes in E-Commerce
The key steps in the contract process—from selecting an offer and proceeding through the shopping cart or booking form to entering personal information and placing a binding order or booking—are logically structured, clearly labeled, and designed to be accessible.
"To the extent that information regarding the accessibility of specific offerings (e.g., guided tours, accommodations, event venues) is provided by the respective service providers, HMTG makes this information available in an accessible format."
Consumer information pursuant to Section 246 of the Introductory Act to the German Civil Code
In addition to this accessibility statement, HMTG provides the consumer information required under Section 246 of the Introductory Act to the German Civil Code (EGBGB) in its Terms and Conditions and as part of the ordering or booking process. This includes, in particular:
- HMTG’s identity and contact information, including its address and means of communication (phone, email).
- the essential characteristics of the goods and services offered,
- Prices include taxes and any additional costs,
- Terms of Payment, Delivery, and Service,
- Information regarding rights of withdrawal, where provided for by law, as well as cancellation policies for travel services and guided tours,
- Information on the applicable legal system and venue, particularly for business customers
