Kröpcke clock in the city center
Right in the heart of it: There's plenty to discover in the center of Hanover.
Old Town
Shopping in Hanover begins right in the heart of the city at Ernst-August-Platz. To the right, the Ernst-August-Galerie, the Niki-de-Saint-Phalle-Promenade one level below, and Bahnhofstraße above invite you to shop, stroll, and dine. Straight ahead, the path continues to Kröpcke.
This is where the main shopping streets meet, and you can stroll along Georgstraße all the way to Steintor. Time for a coffee break? In the alleyways of the old town, you will find many cafés and quaint pubs alongside small boutiques.
Under the tail
If the King of Hanover, Ernst August I, had known this… It’s not his royal likeness, but his horse that’s now a popular meeting spot in Hanover. Anyone who says “under the tail” is arranging to meet at the equestrian statue right in front of the train station exit.
Hanover Central Station
Market Hall
The so-called "belly of Hanover" is particularly popular because of its variety of fresh food, exclusive delicatessen and international dishes - but it also likes to swallow up "hall visitors" for a coffee or Prosecco. This is a place to be seen.

Culinary
It's not just the market hall that attracts gourmets. In the city center and the old town, quaint pubs and sweet cafés invite you in.
Old town flea market
Second-hand goods, junk, art and kitsch! Every Saturday, treasure hunters and bargain hunters are out and about on the Hohe Ufer between Schlossstrasse and Goethestrasse at Germany's oldest flea market. A cherished tradition. You will look in vain for mass-produced goods here.
