The Villa Seligmann, former residence of the first general director of Continental AG Siegmund Seligmann, is now the home of Jewish music in Hanover.

Villa Seligmann is a unique gem in Hanover’s cultural landscape. It hosts world-class concerts and conveys, in an incomparable way, the beauty and richness of the great treasure that is German-Jewish culture.

Villa Seligmann is a place where Jewish culture is brought to life. As one of the few remaining reminders of that era in Hanover, it tells the story of the Jewish middle class before the Shoah. Today, Villa Seligmann serves as a bridge between history and the present, bearing witness to the German-Jewish community and friendship.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Siegmund Seligmann and his wife Johanna had Villa Seligmann built on Hohenzollernstraße in Hanover as a stately villa with extensive gardens. Hermann Schaedtler was chosen as the architect for this upper-class residence.

In 2006, the building was acquired by the Siegmund Seligmann Foundation, and in 2012 it was finally opened to the public. Today, the villa serves as a gathering place where Jewish music and Jewish cultural heritage are shared. Through concerts, exhibitions, readings, guided tours, commemorative events, special events, and celebrations, the history and values of Jewish cultural heritage are passed on to the next generation. Furthermore, Villa Seligmann is increasingly becoming a venue for promoting education, tolerance, and acceptance of diverse cultures.
