Ira Wolkowa Trail

In 2013, Friedrich-Lehner-Weg was renamed Ira-Wolkowa-Weg due to Lehner’s ties to the NSDAP. The project is a visual representation intended to serve as a reminder of the injustice of her fate.

Background information

During World War II, Irina was deported to Hannover to perform forced labor. There, she was hanged in a Gestapo prison.

Description of the work

The project tells Irina's story through three-dimensional posters. The 3D objects make her fate almost tangible and ensure that her death is not forgotten.
