Weberstrasse
Use the digital loom to create an impenetrable web of yarn and revive the craft tradition of the street.
Weberstrasse
Background information
Weberstraße was established in 1700 as a settlement for linen weavers. Franz-Ernst von Platen, who had been elevated to the rank of count, encouraged the settlement of linen weavers on the street, which at the time was part of the grounds of Linden Castle. Among the historic buildings along this traffic-calmed street are a former trade school and Linden’s oldest residential houses.
Description of the work
Based on the history of the street, this application is linked to the craft of weaving. With the help of the digital loom, the user can cover the street with a net of yarn.
