Walk through the portal and discover the atmosphere and surroundings of the old Marstall in 1714.

Augmented road signs

This AR project uses the Marstalltor as a portal to the year 1714, allowing users to experience the atmosphere and surroundings of the old Marstall. Through a combination of 2D and 3D objects, they are transported into an authentic setting that reflects life in the 18th century.

In 1714, the gate was built by Louis Remy de la Fosse as the entrance to the original riding hall. After the riding hall was destroyed during World War II, the gate was moved to the site of the former Brühl Gate and now serves as the entrance to the Old Town. While the riding hall fell victim to the air raids on Hanover, the imposing Marstall Gate, as the central portal of the building, survived. In 1967, it was moved about 100 meters south and is now located on the Leine River north of the Historical Museum. It has taken the place of the former Brühl Gate, which was part of Hanover’s medieval city fortifications.
