Using historical photographs taken between 1900 and 1920, 3D models of the old houses and facades were created. A modular system is designed to allow users to reconstruct Schuhstraße as it once was. With a little skill, Schuhstraße will shine in its former glory.

On the night of October 9, 1943, heavy attacks shook the city of Hannover. Thousands of bombs largely destroyed the city center. Like the entire Old Town, Schuhstraße was not spared from the bombings of World War II. The buildings and facades on Schuhstraße today bear little resemblance to those of the past. The street used to be much narrower and more densely built-up, and seemed livelier.
