Long-distance buses to and from Hannover

The Hannover Central Bus Station (ZOB) is a hub for passengers from all over Europe, who use the major long-distance bus lines operating at frequent intervals to begin or continue their domestic and international journeys from here.

The arrival and departure terminals are located directly behind the main train station at the ZOB—Hanover’s state-of-the-art central bus station, which features a covered waiting area, ticket counters, lockers, and a kiosk. Passengers can begin or continue their journeys from eleven long-distance bus bays—there are connections to Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne in Germany, as well as Vienna, Amsterdam, and Paris abroad, linking to both major economic and tourist hubs across Europe. This makes it easy to plan city trips or onward journeys to the mountains or the coast. A modern passenger information system helps travelers find their way around Hannover. The station is operated by Deutsche Touring GmbH, whose staff is on site daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to answer questions.

Barrier-free facilities at the ZOB

The ZOB is equipped with barrier-free toilets, a tactile floor guidance system and a display with an acoustic stop information announcement at the service building to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Development of the offering since opening

At the opening of the new central bus station (ZOB) in September 2014, all major long-distance bus companies—such as Berlin Linien Bus, city2city, FlixBus, Megabus, Eurolines, Mein Fernbus, and ADAC/Postbus—were represented in Hannover, offering numerous domestic and international destinations, alongside private tour operators. Since then, there has been significant consolidation in the long-distance bus market. Deutsche Touring GmbH, with its former Eurolines service, has also partnered with new operators; tickets are now available through FlixBus and Blablacar. In the Eastern European market, companies such as Ecolines and Sindbad have established themselves.
