The PLATZ Project is a model and research initiative funded by the federal government that focuses on experimental urban development in Hanover.
The PLATZ Project is, first and foremost, an experiment!
Community, DIY, and neighborliness are top priorities here. In addition to an urban community garden and Germany’s largest DIY skatepark, the “2er,” the PLATZprojekt is home to nearly 30 container-based projects in the fields of the creative industries, art and culture, and social services.
Diverse program
With over 150 events and 50 workshops each year, there is a diverse program that places a strong emphasis on neighborhood and community.
The overarching goal is to facilitate projects and ideas that would not be feasible in the city under normal circumstances—and thereby demonstrate the need for creative spaces like the PLATZprojekt. In addition, we strive to make the process from concept to implementation as straightforward, unbureaucratic, and simple as possible.
Award ceremony
In 2019, the PLATZ project was awarded the German Neighborhood Prize by the Nebenanstiftung.
