Kröpcke clock in the city center

Right in the heart of it: There's plenty to discover in the center of Hannover.

Old Town

Shopping in Hannover starts right in the heart of the city at Ernst-August-Platz. To the right, the Ernst-August-Galerie, the Niki-de-Saint-Phalle-Promenade one level below, and Bahnhofstraße above invite you to shop, stroll, and dine. Straight ahead, the street continues to Kröpcke.

This is where the main shopping streets converge; you can stroll down Georgstraße all the way to Steintor. Time for a coffee break? The alleys of the Old Town are home to many cafés and quaint pubs, as well as small boutiques.

Under the tail

If the King of Hannover, Ernst August I, had known… It’s not his royal likeness, but his horse that’s now a popular meeting spot in Hannover. Anyone who says “under the tail” is arranging to meet at the equestrian statue right in front of the train station exit.

Hannover Central Station

Market Hall

The so-called “Belly of Hanover” is particularly popular for its wide variety of fresh produce, exclusive delicacies, and international cuisine—though visitors often linger a while longer for a coffee or a glass of prosecco. It’s a place where people like to be seen.

Culinary

It's not just the market hall that attracts gourmets. In the city center and the old town, quaint pubs and sweet cafés invite you in.

Old town flea market

Secondhand goods, junk, art, and kitsch! Every Saturday, treasure hunters and bargain hunters flock to Germany’s oldest flea market on the Hohen Ufer between Schlosse Straße and Goethestraße. A cherished tradition. You won’t find mass-produced goods here.
