From March 21 to May 31, 2026, “My World of Music” will take visitors on an extraordinary photographic journey through decades of international music history at Peppermint Park Studios in the Peppermint Pavilion on the Expo grounds in Hannover. The project is a co-production by photographer Marc Theis and Wolfgang Sick, managing director of Peppermint Park Studios.

For many years, Marc Theis has been following international artists with his camera, capturing those moments when music, emotion, and the energy of the stage come together. His photographs depict not only concerts, but also the musicians’ personalities and the unique atmosphere surrounding the live experience.

Some 70 carefully selected photographs offer diverse perspectives on the world of music. Large-format black-and-white portraits of international artists are paired with striking concert shots that capture iconic live moments.

A special series is dedicated to portraits of international musicians, including Snoop Dogg, Paul van Dyk, Ronan Keating, and Destiny’s Child. In this work, Marc Theis adopts a deliberately minimalist approach: all the artists were photographed with their eyes closed. While traditional portraits often rely on eye contact, this creates an unusual tension—a moment of concentration, as if the musicians were listening to the music within themselves.

In addition to these portraits, the exhibition features numerous live concert photographs of international artists, including Norah Jones, Joss Stone, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Die Toten Hosen, Snoop Dogg, Ronan Keating, and Destiny’s Child. The works were produced as high-quality giclée prints on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper and are characterized by exceptional color brilliance and depth of detail.

Another focus is the long-standing collaboration between Marc Theis and the Scorpions. For more than two decades, the photographer has repeatedly accompanied the band and captured them in a variety of settings. These photographs are presented in the recording studio at Peppermint Park Studios as large-format giclée prints on high-quality cotton canvas.

The highlight is a work of extraordinary scale: “PIXEL OF ROCK,” the world’s largest concert photo mosaic. The monumental image measures 20 meters wide and 5 meters high, covering an area of 100 square meters. A total of 150,000 image tiles make up the work—composed of over 1,000 previously unpublished live photographs of the Scorpions, taken by Marc Theis over many years.

The mosaic’s complex structure was calculated using a supercomputer. Artist Tobias Schreiber used this data to develop the final mosaic design and bring the work to life. In terms of production as well, the project pushes the boundaries of what is currently technically feasible—both in terms of data volume and resolution, as well as the size of the print format.

On May 31, the artwork will be unveiled, cut into 30 x 30 cm tiles, signed, and sold. You can already reserve a unique piece in the online shop. 30% of the proceeds will be donated to Kinderherz Hannover.

"My World of Music" is an exhibition currently being created at Peppermint Park Studios that brings together music history, art, photography, and modern visual production in a unique way.
