Open House for Garden Enthusiasts in June

Ready to design your garden

In June, too, some garden owners in and around Hannover will open their gates to lovers of well-tended green spaces.

A total of 95 gardens in the city and region of Hannover are open to visitors this year, inviting you to enjoy their diversity, uniqueness, and beauty, as well as the enthusiasm of those who tend them.

The range extends from courtyards and community gardens to park-like estates. Overall, the new “Die Offene Pforte” program once again offers a colorful mix of gardens that provide visitors with ideas and inspiration for designing their own green spaces—or are simply a pleasure to look at. The invaluable contribution these gardens make to the climate and biodiversity should not be overlooked. Many of the gardens provide a home for local flora and fauna.

The concept of open gardens, which was already widespread in England, was adopted in 1991 to mark the 750th anniversary of the state capital, Hannover, and introduced in the city. At that time, 26 gardens opened their gates. Since then, the number of gardening enthusiasts participating in the city and surrounding areas has been steadily increasing.
