Theater am Aegi

The traditional Theater am Aegi offers an extensive program. Shows from various musical genres, musical and theater productions, comedy, cabaret, variety shows and illusions take to the stage here. The Theater am Aegi looks back on a long tradition. Christmas fairy tales, musical and cabaret performances, boulevard comedies, opera, dance and theater performances with renowned national and international artists have been presented here since the 1950s. The Theater am Aegi is also a venue for galas, congresses, trade fairs and company parties.

The Theater am Aegi has been run as a privatized guest theatre since 1994. The extensive cultural and event program attracts around 200,000 guests every year.

Formerly

In 1953, the Theater am Aegi opened as a venue for premieres with an additional stage for artistic performances. After being destroyed by a major fire in 1964, the venue reopened in 1967 as a large theater serving as the home of the Landesbühne Hannover and the Thalia Theater.
