The Hildesheim-based artist collective “Kontakt-Kunst,” of which Otto Almstadt (1940–2023) was a member, organized an annual event lasting several weeks in Hannover between 1971 and 1974, during which they invited passersby to help create public sculptures. Thus, during the creation of this work as part of the “Street Art Program,” the process—with its emphasis on interaction and communication—took center stage. Today, the work’s tactile quality invites an intuitive, sensory experience; its abstract physicality hints at the artist’s decades of studies in nature and anatomy and contrasts the clear geometry of Günter Kämpfe’s adjacent enamel panel with a lively structure. Another work in Hannover: “Einschnürung” at the entrance to the hanover adventure zoo. » Location: Theodor-Lessing-Platz
