A large part of Rainer Kriester’s work (born in 1935 in Plauen) focuses on abstracted heads, which he also refers to as “head symbols.” The installation of the work “Large Wounded Head” on Human Rights Square took place without any direct connection to City Hall or the museum—it does not represent, but rather creates a quiet space for personal encounter. Its title invites one to search for fractures, deviations, irregularities, and ultimately, through association, for states, situations, or explanations. The (protective) gesture of oversized hands may provide clues. » Location: Platz der Menschenrechte (in front of the Museum August Kestner)
