Joseph Kosuth | o.T.

The internationally renowned conceptual artist Joseph Kosuth (born 1945 in Toledo, USA) chose for his light installation a quote from the Hanoverian scholar Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716) that hints at a central idea from Leibniz’s metaphysical theories. The illuminated lettering, visible at night, is located on the rear wall of the Historical Museum, a section of the 17th-century armory. Its effect, however, extends all the way to Leibnizufer, from where the perception of distance addressed in the quote can be applied to the object itself. The work is a gift from the Lower Saxony Savings Bank Foundation. It corresponds with another illuminated sign by the artist in the courtyard of the VGH building on Schiffgraben. » Location: Am Hohen Ufer (near Roßmühle/Pferdestraße)
