The two paired sculptures by Horst Antes (born 1936 in Heppenheim) were installed by Galerie Brusberg and later purchased by the city. By being positioned at right angles to the direction of pedestrian traffic, they structure the path across Georgsplatz along the historic axis. They compel passersby to pause rather than hurry through. The multitude of eyes evokes the perspectives of all those whose shared perception brings the city to life. Eyes and hands symbolize thinking and acting as fundamental functions of human interaction and can be interpreted as very different appeals depending on one’s own state of mind.
