Schang Hutter | Veitstanz

The multi-part installation by Schang (born Jean Albert) Hutter (b. 1934 in Solothurn, Switzerland) was the result of a competition organized by the state of Lower Saxony for the artistic design of the square behind the State Court. Its overall spatial concept can still be considered unusual in Hanover today: it attempts to give the fragmented square a more cohesive character, integrating urban space through interconnected, decentralized elements. The character of the square intended by the artist is enhanced by the recent renovation of the area—at the time of the installation, an entrance to the train station underpass was located in the middle of the work, which had remained a dead end for many years. The artist visualizes the complex spatial levels and contrasts them with an almost naive figurativeness and playful dynamism. The work is the property of the State of Lower Saxony. » Location: Volgersweg (on the square in front of the District Court)
