Galerie Drees was founded in 1999 and is now the leading gallery for contemporary art in Hanover. Housed in a former factory building in the Nordstadt district, the gallery presents four to five art exhibitions a year across more than 300 square meters, some of which are accompanied by its own publications. The internationally oriented program features both established artists and emerging artists. Currently, the gallery represents 21 artists from Germany, the UK, Sweden, Finland, Korea, and Spain, with whom the gallery has maintained long-standing and trusting relationships. In the group and solo exhibitions, the traditional media of painting and sculpture are combined with photography, video, and installations.
In close cooperation with companies, institutions and collectors, the gallery also develops external artistic projects, exhibitions and presentations. It promotes the dialog between business and art and professionally supports private collectors and companies in building up art collections and is available to advise on art purchases. An essential part of our work is also the representation and promotion of our artists at national and international art fairs in the USA, Europe and Germany.
Since 2012, the gallery has featured a permanent project space called “Outlook,” where, alongside the main exhibitions, the gallery owners present artistic projects that have caught their attention and that they consider interesting and promising.
