Gallery Koch

On February 2, 2025, Galerie Koch turned 70 years old.

A look inside the Koch Gallery.

After its founding in 1955 by Bruno Koch, a merchant and art collector from Greifswald, Jürgen and Angelika Koch—the founder’s son and daughter-in-law—laid the groundwork for the family succession within the company. Since late 2003, the gallery has been run by the third generation—Ole-Christian Koch and his sister Petra—together with their father. The long-established Hannoveraner gallery was initially located at Theaterstraße 15 and has been based at Königstraße 50 since the late 1970s.

The gallery focuses on works of classical modernism, selected contemporary art, and internationally significant works of postwar art from the second half of the 20th century. Influential solo exhibitions in recent years have included those of Max Liebermann, Heinrich Zille, Jacques Lipchitz, E.L. Kirchner, Fritz Klimsch, Wilhelm Busch, Otto Modersohn, Horst Janssen, Lyonel Feininger, Frank Auerbach, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Alexej von Jawlensky, Horst Antes, Sam Francis, and Otto Piene.

Gallery hours:
Tuesday through Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
; Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
; and by appointment.
