Between drawing and sculpture: Kunstraum Friesenstraße

Between Drawing and Sculpture

Friesenstrasse Art Space

At the end of her active career, pharmacist Gisela Sperling began building up an art collection in 2017.

Friesenstrasse Art Space

The nature of art is fluid. It depends on its surroundings. The exhibition program at kunstraum friesenstraße makes this very clear: Gisela Sperling’s ever-growing collection is presented here in constantly shifting contexts. A collection that focuses on drawing and sculpture but does not exclude painting, photography, or objects—a collection, therefore, that oscillates between the two- and three-dimensional. A collection that focuses on art since 1950, and a collection that is presented in the distinctive spaces in various facets—or, rather, in a multifaceted and self-assured manner.
And last but not least, a collection that challenges in a positive sense: Artists are regularly invited to create interventions in which they are tasked with relating their own works to the conditions of the site.

Hours:
Friday through Saturday: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
, and by appointment.
