Hanover State Museum
In addition to paintings and sculptures from the 14th to the 20th centuries, the State Museum features significant exhibits from the fields of archaeology, ethnology, and natural history. Located just a short distance from Lake Maschsee, the largest state museum invites visitors on a journey around the world: in the Nature Worlds, Human Worlds, and Art Worlds, visitors can marvel at dinosaurs, gold treasures, bog mummies, and fascinating paintings.
Worlds of nature
Thanks to high-quality specimens, visitors get an almost vivid impression of current and past habitats. From the local North Sea to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, the journey continues all the way to the deep sea.
Human worlds

Visitors can be fascinated by the exciting history of mankind. Archaeological objects take visitors on an expedition from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages. How our ancestors developed over the centuries can be clearly seen there. The ethnological collection shows non-European cultures that came into focus with the discovery of the "New World" in the 15th century.
ArtWorlds
Paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages to the 20th century can be viewed in the KunstWelten. These include one of the largest collections of medieval art in the whole of Germany and numerous works by the "impressionist triumvirate": Liebermann, Slevogt, Corinth.
In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly hosts special exhibitions for all age groups. The Landesmuseum Hannover also features a café with a picturesque courtyard and a museum shop.
