Concerts, sporting events, shows, and major entertainment productions: The ZAG Arena Hannover at Expo Plaza is one of the city’s premier venues. Plan your trip in advance and start your event experience on a relaxed note.
Venue at Expo Plaza
The ZAG Arena is located in the southern part of Hannover, right next to the Expo Plaza and in close proximity to the Fairground. The venue offers space for large concerts, comedy shows, musicals, TV shows, and sporting events. Depending on the event, it can accommodate up to 14,000 spectators.
Measuring 128 meters long, 115 meters wide, and 34 meters high, the arena is a prominent feature of Expo Plaza. The interior of the hall covers approximately 3,000 square meters, complemented by large audience areas on multiple levels. Thanks to various stage and floor configurations, the arena can be flexibly adapted to different events.

The Arena recommends that visitors arrive early. Especially during large events, there may be many people on the move around the Fairground at the same time.
Getting to the ZAG Arena by Public Transportation
You can easily reach the ZAG Arena Hannover by tram. From downtown, take Line 6 toward Messe/Ost to the final stop, Messe/Ost. From there, you can walk to the Expo Plaza and the Arena.
From Hannover Central Station to the ZAG Arena
From Hannover Central Station, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Kröpcke. There, take CityRail Line 6 toward Messe/Ost. According to the Arena, the ride from Kröpcke to the final stop takes about 25 minutes.
During major events, the Hannover Metropolitan Area Transit Authority may operate additional light rail trains for travel to and from the venue. Please check the current schedule before your visit and allow plenty of time to get to the arena.
From Hanover Airport to the ZAG Arena
If you're arriving via Hannover Airport, first take the S5 S-Bahn line to Hannover Central Station. Then walk to Kröpcke and take tram line 6 to Messe/Ost.
Directions to the ZAG Arena by Car
You can also reach the ZAG Arena by car via the A2 and A7 highways and the Messeschnellweg. The best route depends on the direction you're traveling.
From the north
Take the A7 toward Kassel until you reach the Hannover-Kirchhorst interchange. From there, take the Messeschnellweg (B3/B6/A37) toward Hannover and follow the signs to Messe Nord / Plaza.
From the south
Take the A7 toward Hamburg until you reach the Hannover-Süd interchange. Then follow the Messeschnellweg toward the Fairground and take the Messe Süd exit.
From the west or east
From the A2, take the exit at the Hannover-Buchholz interchange onto the Messeschnellweg toward Hannover Zentrum/Messe. Then follow the signs for Messe Nord / Plaza.
Parking at the ZAG Arena in Hannover
Visitors can use both the Arena parking garage and various Fairground parking lots in the surrounding area. The parking areas that are open during an event may vary. Therefore, especially for well-attended events, be sure to allow plenty of time to find a parking spot.
Parking garage right next to the ZAG Arena
The Arena parking garage opens for public events with regular ticket sales. The entrance is located on Gut Kronsberg Street. According to the Arena, the parking garage opens 30 minutes before doors open.
The parking fee is currently 20 euros. The maximum clearance height is 1.80 meters. A parking ticket can be purchased through the arena’s online store up to one day before the respective event.
Convenient for visitors: There is a separate ticket inspection counter in the parking garage. From there, you can take the elevator to the arena.
Expo parking lots around the arena
Additional parking is available in the East and South Fairground park lots. An electronic parking guidance system will direct you to the open parking areas.
As of now, the following capacities, among others, are available:
- East Parking Lot 14/15: about 1,850 passenger cars
- South Parking Garage 26: about 1,000 passenger cars
- South Parking Lot 27: about 250 passenger cars
- South Parking Lot 28: about 640 passenger cars
- South Parking Lot 29: about 850 passenger cars
For the trade fair parking lots, the Arena currently charges a parking fee of 10 euros per car during Arena events. A higher fee may apply on trade fair days. The areas that are actually open also depend on the specific event and the concurrent use of the Fairground.
Expo Plaza is designated as a pedestrian zone. Parking is generally not permitted there. Vehicles parked illegally on the plaza may be towed at the owner’s expense. Therefore, please use only the designated parking garages and parking areas.
Accessible Travel and Parking Options
The ZAG Arena is accessible to all visitors. Take tram line 6 to the Messe/Ost terminal stop; step-free access is available at elevated platforms and subway stations equipped with elevators. Specific conditions may apply at certain stations, so we recommend checking the latest information from the public transportation authority before your trip.
For guests with a valid parking permit, a limited number of free accessible parking spaces are available on Weltausstellungsallee, either under or near the pedestrian bridge. From there, a barrier-free path leads across Expo Plaza to the arena’s entrance area.
