Piano Music in Hannover's Cultural Triangle - Visit Hannover

Cultural triangle

Public piano on the opera square

Northern Germany's first outdoor piano is located on Opernplatz in Hannover and invites people to come and play music for free.

The outdoor piano is waiting for players and listeners. Daniel Pflieger from the Piano Bombing association and Melanie Botzki, head of the city's cultural management department, helped set it up.

Located within walking distance of Hannover Central Station, Opernplatz has been home since December 2025 to Northern Germany’s first permanently installed outdoor piano—a weather-resistant digital piano that invites people to make music spontaneously in public spaces.
Anyone wishing to experience piano music in Hannover will find a special place for musical encounters in the Kulturdreieck. At “Open Keys,” the diversity of piano music unfolds right in the heart of downtown—open, accessible, and surprising.

Freely playable pianos invite you to pause, listen or become active yourself. Between the opera house, theater and other cultural institutions, an urban atmosphere is combined with musical spontaneity.

The Piano is a vibrant hub for art and community in Hannover, making piano music accessible to visitors and passersby alike. As they stroll through the city center, visitors can discover unexpected musical moments and become part of an open cultural exchange.
