Steps to art: Jenny Brosinski

The thirteenth edition of “Stufen zur Kunst” at the Künstlerhaus Hannover, which runs through December 31, 2026, was curated by the artist under the title “Mistakes that already ended & stories that may never be true.”

Jenny Brosinski, *I Was Looking at All the Life*, 2021.

Two sculptural works enter into a dialog with in situ wall paintings in the stairwell of the east wing of the historic Künstlerhaus.

Brosinski always develops her work from the medium of painting: typical of her much-discussed works, which can be found in numerous collections today, is the application of paint on unprimed canvas. Her very contemporary compositions are created between daring and experimentation, borrowing from pop and subculture, as coincidence and pointed setting.

Sculpture and painting in the stairwell

"Mistakes that already ended & stories that may never be true" opens up an inspiring landscape of abstract painting across the four floors of the east staircase of the Künstlerhaus, which constantly allows for new perspectives - along the "line" as a central element of the artistic vocabulary, always with a perspective on a new hanging, sculptural work. Brosinski's well-known sculpture "I Was Looking at All the Life" ("And I looked at all that life"), in the form of a bronze unicorn, will be on display in the installation.
