Take the light rail or commuter train to the Maschsee Festival - Visit Hannover

Public transport

Light rail and S-Bahn

Fast - easy - safe: travel by public transport if possible!

Information about tickets within the Region Hannover

For travel to and from the Region Hannover, we recommend tickets from the Greater Hannover Transport Authority (GVH), which are also valid on the S-Bahn and on DB Regio, metronom, erixx, and Westfalenbahn trains (in second class). For more information:

Getting there by S-Bahn from Hannover

If you are traveling from the surrounding area, we recommend taking the Hannover S-Bahn. It goes directly to Hannover Central Station.

To the festival by light rail

Take lines 1 (Laatzen/Sarstedt), 2 (Rethen), and 8 (Messe/Nord) from the main station (or Kröpcke) to the following stops:

  • Aegidientorplatz, Schlägerstraße, Geibelstraße, Altenbekener Damm, or Döhrener Turm.

From there, head west to the eastern shore of the Maschsee (a walk of just under ten minutes)

Or take lines 3, 7 (toward Wettbergen), and 9 (toward Empelde) from the main station or Kröpcke to the station:

  • Waterloo

Head south along Waterloostraße and Bruchmeisterallee to the north bank (about a 10-minute walk)

The special bus route 267

Especially for the Maschsee Festival, ÜSTRA’s special bus line 267 runs between the Kröpcke stop and the beach. Along the way, there are several stops right on the waterfront promenade.

The 800 bus route

Bus route 800 is also in operation on the section from Altenbekener Damm to Aegidientorplatz.
