The following selection of larger open-air venues in Hannover showing soccer matches is based on our experience with recent major soccer events. The venues are listed from largest to smallest. Because kickoff times are late in the evening or in the early morning hours, most venues will only show matches featuring the German national team, as well as the final, if applicable. The list is updated regularly.
The 2026 World Cup matches can once again be watched at Waterlooplatz.
- The venue can accommodate up to 15,000 fans and will show all of the German national team’s matches as well as the final. Admission is free; according to the organizers, the event will be funded by proceeds from food and beverage sales. Doors open three hours before kickoff. Address: Waterlooplatz.
Numerous beer gardens throughout Hanover are showing the World Cup matches live. Some of them are listed here, though this list is by no means exhaustive.

- Located on the edge of the Eilenriede, Hanover’s city forest, the beer garden is surrounded by old trees, with the romantic Art Nouveau façade of the Lister Turm serving as a backdrop. - Watch the Men's World Cup live! The Gretchen Beer Garden will be showing all matches kicking off by midnight on a big-screen TV. For matches featuring the German team and the all-important knockout rounds, there will be an additional screen in the courtyard and a barbecue. Phone: 0511 / 45 50 01. In addition to your own backyard or living room, there are plenty of other places where you can watch the soccer games with friends. From the Kulturhof to the university campus, all of Hannover is caught up in World Cup fever.
- For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the sports campus of Leibniz University Hannover will be transformed into a gathering place for soccer fans from across the region from June 11 to July 19. The “Campus Public Viewing Hannover” will be one of the city’s largest public viewing events. Visitors can look forward to live broadcasts of selected World Cup matches on a large LED screen, as well as a varied supporting program featuring hosts, contests, cultural performances, and live music. The event grounds can accommodate several thousand guests, creating the perfect setting for a unique soccer experience in Hannover. Address: Leibniz University Sports Campus.
