The Greater Hanover Transport Association (GVH) is one of the oldest transport associations in Germany. Since 1970, it has coordinated the activities of all bus and rail operators in the Region Hannover.
The GVH ensures that people here need only one ticket for all buses and trains. Information is consolidated and schedules are coordinated.
GVH, which operates as a limited liability company (GmbH), has as its shareholders the Region Hannover—which serves as both the public authority and the funding body—as the majority shareholder, as well as the municipal transit companies ÜSTRA and regiobus, and the rail companies metronom, erixx, and Westfalenbahn. Transdev (S-Bahn Hannover), Start, and DB Regio are involved in the work of the transit association through cooperation agreements.
The three companies—Üstra, regiobus, and GVH—are working together more and more closely. Until now, however, they had maintained completely separate logos and brand identities. This made it difficult for passengers to keep track of things, and the three companies increasingly reached their limits in their joint communications. Since April 2024, this has been simplified: Üstra, regiobus, and GVH now communicate externally under a single name (Üstra) and a single brand identity (ÜMO).
The three companies—Üstra, regiobus, and GVH—will continue to operate independently despite their joint brand identity.
The following transport companies are active in the transport association:
