A stroll around the Marktkirche is a special treat. Here, the Old Town charms visitors with its half-timbered houses, elegant boutiques, galleries, and quaint pubs. The Old Town flea market on the banks of the Leine is a cult Saturday event! Sunday shopping and late-night shopping allow shoppers to compare items at their own pace—a feature that’s also hugely popular in the region’s surrounding towns.

The shopping streets in the city’s neighborhoods—such as Lister Meile, Limmer Straße, and Lindener Markt—offer charm, a diverse range of dining options, and interesting shops. Outside the city limits, the Hanover region entices visitors with attractive shopping opportunities. Wedemark, with its historic town centers, is an idyllic spot in the north. Towns like Laatzen and Pattensen in the south, or Lehrte and Burgdorf in the east, offer variety, quality, and charm. To the south, Barsinghausen beckons on the edge of the Deister; to the west, the pedestrian zones of Wunstorf and Neustadt an der Runge—also thanks to their proximity to Lake Steinhude—are well worth a visit.
