Do you want to immerse yourself in the world of politics and society? Do you want to learn about and apply theories and institutions, as well as methods for analyzing social and political systems? Do you want to examine and analyze the developments and influencing factors of political processes, as well as national and international actors, in relation to current events and global challenges? Building on theoretical foundations and using scientific methods, you will learn to analyze and critically examine the processes and developments in our society. Political theory and the history of ideas, comparative government, international relations, methods in political science, and political sociology are just a few of the areas of political science offered at Leibniz University Hannover.

About the Program

SOCIAL SCIENCES

How is society structured? What is changing the world of work and careers, and how? What are the causes and triggers, and how can conflicts and social prejudices be explained? How do the diverse changes in culture, the economy, and politics affect individuals and their daily lives? To address and explain such questions, students learn the academic foundations and methods of data collection, evaluation, and analysis, as well as theoretical approaches from sociology and political science—including within cultural and historical contexts. In particular, the development of basic academic skills in empirical social research is a central component of the social sciences program at Leibniz University Hannover.
