Oliver Baum, a resident of Linden, has now won two awards in sustainability competitions for his invention, “Warmduscher.” And for good reason: his technology can save up to 40 percent in energy.
Right after heating, which is the biggest energy consumer, comes the shower. Everyone uses it almost every day, and it requires a lot of energy.
Using the principle of heat exchangers, the residual heat from the shower water flowing toward the drain is captured. Even though the shower water has long since flowed past the body and into the tub, it still has a temperature of 35 degrees. Thanks to a special stainless steel plate, the residual heat from the draining water is mixed with the fresh, cold shower water. Here, the cold water is heated in the heat exchanger as the warm water flows over it. Since the water is now preheated, less fresh hot water needs to be added.
Visually, the panel is covered with treated bamboo. A new version of the “Warmduscher” can be installed directly into the floor of the shower.
