Spanning 6,000 square meters, the CRC Hannover Clinical Research Center offers medical expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and ideal conditions for conducting innovative clinical trials.
The Clinical Research Center Hannover (CRC Hannover) is a research facility dedicated to clinical trials and is jointly operated by three academic partners: Fraunhofer ITEM, Hannover Medical School, and the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research.
At CRC Hannover, the Fraunhofer ITEM Clinical Research Center specializes in the development of therapies for respiratory and lung diseases, including asthma, COPD, allergic rhinitis, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, as well as immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, particularly atopic dermatitis. The institute combines in-depth scientific expertise with operational excellence and conducts early-phase clinical trials as well as proof-of-concept studies.
To this end, the CRC Hannover offers state-of-the-art outpatient and inpatient facilities, including a specialized Phase I unit, a bronchoscopy unit, advanced imaging techniques, a biobank, and a comprehensive biomarker laboratory. In addition, five exposure chambers are available, including the Fraunhofer Allergen Challenge Chambers, for controlled exposure to natural pollen (grasses and birch), house dust allergens, ozone, and hypoxia.
