Successful in the fight against viruses and infections

Resist

The Resist research group is trying to understand why some people are particularly susceptible to certain infections.

The English word “Resist” means “to resist.” In Hanover, this concept is a major focus for researchers at Leibniz University: The Resist research group is investigating the factors that enable some people to fight off infections more effectively than others. The goal is to gain new insights into the immune system and use them to develop innovative approaches to prevention and treatment.

At the TWINCORE Center for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research in Hannover, researchers are currently developing a rapid test capable of detecting the RS virus immediately after birth. Such diagnostic methods help identify infections early and treat them effectively.

For the startup Syntellix AG, based in Hannover, the concept of “resilience” also plays an important role. The company develops specialized implants that are inserted following bone fractures and dissolve on their own within the body. This helps reduce the risk of infection and supports the healing process.

Research and development in Hannover demonstrates how closely science, medicine, and industry collaborate to create innovative solutions in the field of infection control and to improve healthcare in a sustainable way.
