Hannover's education system is well-established, with a wide variety of educational institutions.

From lower secondary school through upper secondary school, continuing education, and adult education to higher education, Hannover offers a wide range of schools, colleges, and educational institutions. There is a need for new teachers in many of these areas.

Teachers generally need to have the appropriate qualification as a certified teacher, which is obtained by completing a teacher training program. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs provides information about these programs on its website.
In addition to certified teachers, career changers also have the opportunity to work in the education sector if their college degree demonstrates relevant subject-specific expertise.

Schools and universities

The State of Lower Saxony is the employer for teachers in the city and region of Hanover. Under certain conditions, teachers are appointed as civil servants; otherwise, they are public-sector employees.
