The headquarters of Hannoversche Volksbank on Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse.
Hannoversche Volksbank is one of Germany's top-performing cooperative banks and has been serving the region for over a century.
In 2003 and 2005, following a strategic partnership that had lasted several years, four Volksbanks merged to form what is now Hannoversche Volksbank. The merger of Volksbank Hannover, Lindener Volksbank, Volksbank Burgdorf-Celle, and Volksbank Garbsen was followed by a merger with Volksbank Hildesheimer Börde in 2019.
Formerly Volksbank Linden, now Volksbank Hannover: The bank building on Minister-Stüve-Straße.
With the merger of these long-established Volksbanks, Hannoversche Volksbank has now grown to over 1,000 employees and more than 80 branches. As a cooperative bank owned by its members and customers, Hannoversche Volksbank now serves approximately 250,000 customers and has half as many members.
The predecessor of Hannoversche Volksbank was founded in 1860 by various guilds in what was then the Kingdom of Hanover as a "credit association." It is the oldest privately owned credit institution in the state capital.
Hannoversche Volksbank is also active and visible in the region beyond its core banking business. Since 2005, Hannoversche Volksbank has been partnering with the Bundesliga soccer club Hannover 96; since 2008, it has even served as a co-sponsor of the club. In addition, the bank is a regional partner of the handball team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf “Die Recken.” To mark its 150th anniversary, the bank established the Hannoversche Volksbank Foundation, through which it supports charitable institutions and organizations in the region.
