Sparkasse Hannover

Sparkasse has been operating in the Region Hannover for nearly 200 years and, with approximately 1,700 employees, is one of the largest savings banks in Germany.
Today's Sparkasse Hannover was formed through the merger of the formerly independent institutions Kreissparkasse Hannover and Stadtsparkasse Hannover. It operates over 100 branches in the city of Hannover and the surrounding area.
Today, more than 50% of businesses in the region are customers of Sparkasse Hannover, making the bank a driving force in the Hannover economic region. In addition, Sparkasse Hannover supports approximately 500 projects and activities each year by associations and institutions that make a unique contribution—both to the Hannover region and to the people who live here. In addition to the Hannover Foundation, Sparkasse Hannover also supports the Kulturregion Hannover Foundation, the Hannover State Opera Foundation, and the Dr. August and Erika Appenrodt Foundation.
Sparkasse Hannover office building on Raschplatz
The headquarters of Lower Saxony’s largest savings bank is located right next to Hanover’s main train station, on Raschplatz. The building was designed by architect Heinz Wilke and constructed between 1974 and 1976. It consists of six towers of varying heights, with the tallest, at around 70 meters, towering over the main train station. In 2015, the building underwent extensive renovation and now offers 800 modern workspaces across a total of 15 floors.
Stadtsparkasse Hannover was founded in 1823 as the “Savings and Loan Association of the Royal Capital of Hanover,” making it one of the oldest institutions in the history of German savings banks. The Kreissparkasse Hannover was originally founded in 1878 as the “Savings, Loan, and Advance Fund of the Hannover District.” At the end of 2001, the Stadt- and Kreissparkasse Hannover merged to form the region’s largest financial services provider.
