EDEKA Minden-Hanover

The EDEKA Minden-Hannover regional subsidiary has the highest sales volume within the EDEKA group.

With external sales of approximately 11 billion euros and about 77,700 employees (including independent retailers), EDEKA Minden-Hannover is the highest-revenue regional subsidiary among the seven regional subsidiaries in the cooperatively organized EDEKA Group.

The company has existed in its current form since 1920, stretching from the Dutch border to the Polish border and covering Bremen, Lower Saxony, part of East Westphalia-Lippe, Saxony-Anhalt, Berlin, and Brandenburg. Two-thirds of the total 1,480 stores are owned by independent EDEKA merchants. The corporate group also includes several production facilities, including the bread and baked goods producer Schäfer’s, the meat and sausage producer Bauerngut, and the long-established fish processing company Hagenah in Hamburg.

At EDEKA, apprentices can choose from 26 different apprenticeship programs in the fields of retail, wholesale, logistics, or production. Employees benefit from job security, opportunities for professional development, and a wide variety of responsibilities at Germany’s number one grocery retailer.
