But that’s not all: innovative magazine formats such as *Spiegel* and *Stern* were founded here; state-of-the-art TV broadcasting systems are based here; cutting-edge headphones and microphones are developed here; and Hannover has a vibrant theater scene. Germany’s only clown school and its largest opera house are also located in Hannover. The list goes on and on.

The region of Hanover has clearly been—and continues to be—a very fertile ground for creativity. However, it has not yet been fully associated with these innovations and creative developments. Their economic significance for the region has also often been—and continues to be—underestimated.

• Startup hubs: HALLE 96, featuring office space, workshops, and shared infrastructure; coworking spaces and the “Havfen” makerspace
• Network: kre|H|tiv Netzwerk e. V., the fastest-growing and largest industry network of its kind in Germany
