PZH – Hannover Center for Production Technology

This modern building, spanning over 20,000 square meters, houses not only the engineering departments of Leibniz University Hannover but also numerous young industrial and technology companies, providing them with space for research and work.

In total, eight institutes of Leibniz University Hannover are represented at this nationally and internationally renowned research center for production engineering, along with approximately 270 engineers and scientists. Key research areas at the PZH include Industry 4.0, optical technologies, robotics and automation, resource efficiency, and medical technology. Start-ups and young companies in the industry can rent office and workspace at the PZH Start-up Center on favorable terms, benefit directly from new developments, and make optimal use of synergy effects.

To support research into production technology on an XXL scale, a building of XXL proportions is being constructed next to the Production Technology Center Hannover (PZH): The SCALE research facility measures over 65 meters wide, 75 meters long, and 15 meters high. This massive building could easily accommodate four stories, just like the neighboring PZH. In the SCALE research facility, however, the entire height is utilized to research scalable production systems of the future. In the two outer hall sections, no intermediate ceilings are being installed; here, a 10-meter clearance remains beneath the crane hook for machines and demonstrators—significantly more than in the PZH’s test halls. The opening is scheduled for fall 2022.
