The City of Hannover’s Economic Development Agency serves as the interface between the business community and the city administration. As a point of contact for businesses, the agency acts as a liaison between policymakers and external service providers with the goal of fostering the sustainable development of the local economy.

Key areas of focus include:

• Support for commercial construction projects, assistance with plans to establish new businesses or make changes to existing ones for Office and commercial space
• Strengthening the local economy

This specialized knowledge of the Hannover real estate market and its key players is not only utilized for the state capital’s own project developments but is also made available to interested companies. The economic development officers see themselves as advocates and guides for businesses; they not only assist with questions regarding finding a location in Hannover but also facilitate the acquisition of city-owned land and, if necessary, seek out suitable alternative sites.

City of Hannover Award

With the City of Hannover Award for Women Entrepreneurs, the city honors women who make a valuable contribution to Hannover’s economy. All female entrepreneurs who have been active in the city for at least three years are eligible to apply for the prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The jury places particular emphasis on whether the company contributes to improving the image of the state capital of Hannover, adheres to sustainability principles, and whether there is an awareness of gender equality within the company. 

Hannover Science and Technology Park

With SCIENCE AREA 30X, the state capital is laying the groundwork for future-oriented technological development. On this 28-hectare site in northwest Hanover, the city offers commercial space within an attractive landscaped park and in close proximity to high-performing, internationally recognized research institutions. Forty renowned companies and research institutions have already established themselves here.
